Join us at the Stax Museum for a celebration of the newly released — a powerful collection of live performances capturing the heart and soul of Memphis music during a pivotal moment in American history.
Originally recorded in 1965 at Los Angeles’ 5-4 Ballroom and Memphis’ iconic Club Paradise, this 2CD/2LP set features performances from Stax legends including Rufus Thomas, Carla Thomas, Booker T. & The M.G.’s, William Bell, and even a rare live appearance from Wilson Pickett. With 21 total tracks, including 9 never-before-released cuts, the album showcases the Stax sound in its purest form, newly remastered by Joe Tarantino.
The evening includes a Q&A with vinyl mastering engineer Jeff Powell, who will offer a behind-the-scenes look at remastering historic recordings and the continued legacy of soul music on wax.
