About this Event

The Nuanced Naturopaths (Julie Forrester & Karinda John) present Returning to Our Natural Rhythm: Circadian Signalling for Whole Body Health
This talk will help natural health practitioners understand just how crucial our circadian rhythm is for entire physiology. It’s the reminder we all need that light, and being intentional with our exposure to both sunlight, moonlight and darkness, are some of our most under-utilised (but most impactful!) tools we have in clinic.
We’ll cover:- The basic anatomy of our ‘biological clocks’, and how our bodies use light as a signal (for more than just sleeping and waking)- The importance of light for mitochondria, and how mitochondrial dysfunction underlies most symptoms & ailments our clients are seeking support for- The concept of quantum biology & photobiomodulation — going beyond the chemical messengers we focus on for cellular health- What an optimal circadian rhythm looks like, and how we can use timed light exposure to prime our circadian signalling- How different times of day (as informed by light or darkness exposure) inform the function of specific organs & hormones- An ideal routine from sunrise to sunset, and practical tools/strategies, to implement with your patients AND in your own practice.

Karinda John, Naturopath (BHSc) & Fertility Awareness Educator, is passionate about all things hormones & menstrual cycles. In clinic, she’s supported 100s of women resolve period problems & hormone imbalances through harnessing the healing power of nature & naturopathy. She’s also loves to spread the word on natural health & cyclical living through podcasts, as host of Oh My Menses and cohost of The Nuanced Naturopaths with Julie Forrester.

Julie is a practicing naturopath (BHSc), speaker, master’s student, and podcaster, passionate about helping everyone feel great again. Julie has a special interest in the human microbiome, in restoring digestive function to improve all aspects of health and currently completing a master’s in this field. Clinically she assists women to make the perimenopause/menopause transition as smoothly as possible, and works with immune system, skin health and complex conditions that evade all other treatments.

While our meetings began in Melbourne’s inner north and have grown from those humble, community-centred beginnings, it feels like the right time for a new chapter.

We’re deeply grateful for that history and everyone who has helped shape it. One thing we’ve consistently heard over the years is the desire for livestreaming, so that regional and home-based practitioners can still connect, learn, and be part of the magic.

We’ve listened - and it's happening.
