Langue de Chat at Paris Cat

"Langue de Chat" is the answer to a question that cannot be answered—a question such as: Are the bellows of the accordion its lungs or its heart? Or, when I hear French musette music, where am I transported? Or even, how can this music make me feel nostalgic for a place I've never been?

These are the questions "Langue de Chat," with its otherworldly chanteuse, cajoling guitar, earthy double bass, and, of course, the piano accordion, contemplates in the warm shadows of a distant, tender memory.

Aria-winning accordionist Anthony Schulz’s latest ensemble, Langue de Chat, explores the world of the accordion and voice that is at the heart of the music of Paris. Each swaying waltz or earthy song is beautifully underpinned by the sophisticated sounds of guitar and double bass.

To listen to this music is to be transported, to sense another time and place whether it be real or imagined. This is the beauty and intrigue of the music that was born of the streets and dancehalls of Paris – a musical and cultural melting pot.

Langue de Chat has performed sell out concerts at Paris Cat, Open Studio, Brunswick Green and Port Fairy Folk Festival.
