Join award-winning illustrator from Pentel Arts, Chris Koehler, and local comic artist/illustrator, Yasmine Pond, in an exclusive pen and ink workshop. Together they will be showcasing Pentel’s NEW Illustration Pro Kits.
Whether you are interested in cross hatching, ink wash, and employing pens and brushes for linework, Chris and Yasmine are happy to provide their expertise, guidance, and influences to help give you a better understanding of the wonderful world of ink illustration!
This class is ink bootcamp. You will learn everything about ink and how to use it. Using the tools in the Pentel Arts Illustration Pro Kit, we’ll cover a wide range of techniques and applications, as well as go over ink basics.
Beginners will learn the basics of ink work, empowering them to explore and learn. Intermediate and advanced participants will learn professional processes and high level techniques.
You will learn several different processes and tools:
• Linework with a pen
• Linework with a brush
• Mark making a shading with pen
• Advanced shading with brush
• Duotone shading
• Ink wash with water based ink media
Everyone will start on Bristol paper, employ worksheets, and work on original pieces. Chris and Yasmine will supply templates to work on, but you will also have the choice to work on an original piece. You are also encouraged to bring works-in-progress and sketches to develop in the workshop. You will leave with either finished work or a work-in-progress.
NOTE: This workshop is meant for ANY skill/experience level. All artists can benefit from learning these techniques. While Chris and Yasmine will be showing specific methods, everyone is encouraged to explore and play.
