Pace: Slow
Difficulty: Moderate, with some rocky terrain; Beginner Plant ID Welcome!
Join Friends of the Fells and Earthwise Aware on Monday Mornings at Bellevue Pond to monitor invasive plant species! This Spring, we will be holding weekly invasive plant species monitoring events at Bellevue Pond, using the Anecdata platform to map locations of common invasive plant species in the Middlesex Fells Reservation including Garlic Mustard, Multiflora Rose, Honeysuckle, and anything else we come across. These walks will be about 3 hours long at a slow pace over rocky terrain, with frequent stops to observe the natural environment.
What will you do?
Identify and record invasive plants using the Earthwise Aware Invasive Flora Patrol community science project and Anecdata mobile app and website. All ages are welcome!
This event will be held at Bellevue Pond off South Border Road in Medford (Google Maps location here). Parking is available at the South Border Road Parking Lot (Google Maps location here).
Please bring a hat, sunscreen, your own reusable water bottle, and a snack, if you would like one. We recommend wearing sturdy shoes, warm gloves, long sleeves, long socks, and long pants to help prevent poison ivy or tick exposure. Please note, there are no restrooms at this site.
