At their meeting on Tuesday, May 27, the McFarland Village Board approved a request to raise and fly the Pride flag at the McFarland Municipal Center during the month of June in observation of LGBTQ+ Pride Month. 2025 will mark the third annual raising of the Pride flag at the Village’s central administrative building.
The Village of McFarland raises the Pride flag as a visible and heartfelt symbol of our commitment to fostering inclusion, respect, and love for LGBTQ+ members of our community. As a commemorative flag, it also represents the past and present-day resilience and fortitude of the LGBTQ+ community.
As in previous years, the flag will be raised at a public ceremony, scheduled for Wednesday, June 4 at 5 p.m. All ages are welcome, and the event is free to attend!
In addition to brief opening remarks offered by Village leadership, a student speaker from McFarland High School will address those gathered. The flag will then be ceremonially raised as a moment of recognition is observed.
Following the ceremony, community members are invited to spend some time connecting with neighbors and perusing information about local LGBTQ+ resources over cookies and lemonade.
