Container Loading to El Salvador

Bikes Not Bombs is scheduled to ship a container of bicycles and parts to our partner El Centro Salvadoreño de Tecnología Apropiada (CESTA) in El Salvador from Thursday July 10th to Sunday July 13th and we need your help!

Join us at our warehouse space in Dorchester to help us with this extremely important work. Volunteer roles will consist of stripping bikes, sorting parts, inventory tracking and counting, and much more. Bikes Not Bombs staff will be present to guide and direct volunteers. Location: The Bikes Not Bombs warehouse at 10 Harvard Street in Dorchester, MA 02124.

Date and Times:

Thursday July 10th:
10 AM to 1 PM

Friday July 11th and Saturday July 12th:
9:30 AM to 1:00 PM
12:30 PM to 4 PM

Sunday July 13th (as a back-up shift; this may be cancelled if we finish early)
10 AM to 2 PM

We welcome all people to help for any amount of time, and volunteers may register for as many shifts as they are available. **Please note that the extra Sunday shift may be cancelled if we are able to fill the container ahead of schedule on Saturday.**

What to Expect:
Volunteers will arrive and be assigned certain roles or to perform specific tasks. You will be lifting and moving bicycles throughout the day, though not every individual is required to do heavy lifting. We advise you wear closed-toed shoes and clothing you are not worried about getting dirty. Dress appropriately for the weather as work will be performed outside and the warehouse does not have climate control. Bring a water bottle and your own work gloves if you have them. Food will be provided for volunteers!
