Celebrate World Migratory Bird Day. Join us at Swan Lake Park, one of the most biodiverse places in our city and an eBird hotspot. Participants will learn how to differentiate between bird species that are preparing for their long migration south after raising their families amongst our community as well as the species who will overwinter here with us. Our theme is "Shared Spaces: Creating Bird-Friendly Cities and Towns". We will highlight the need to create and adapt environments to support bird populations across all communities, including in our bustling city. We will demonstrate how to use binoculars (please bring your binoculars if you have them), field guides and birding apps to prepare you for your next birding adventure. Your walk leader, Kathleen Elizabeth Noël will share her knowledge of birds, ethical bird photography and the importance of preserving the habitats birds call home.
Please Note: It is your responsibility to be up to date on whether a walk is cancelled in extreme temperatures, weather events or unforeseen circumstances.
