Smyth County and the Town of Marion will celebrate Independence Day with an evening of baseball and fireworks, Sunday July 6, 2025.
What time do the fireworks start?
The fireworks display will start immediately after the 6:30 baseball game featuring the Marion Hungry Mothers vs. the Greensboro Ducks (tickets at hungrymothersbaseball.com).
Where are the fireworks?
The fireworks will be set off near Marion Senior High School. The best viewing will be from Hurricane Stadium, the summer home of the Marion Hungry Mothers. Fireworks will also be visible along Lee Highway in Marion, east of the railroad crossing.
Is there a cost?
To view the fireworks from Hurricane Stadium or the MSHS parking lot, you must purchase a ticket to the game ($8 at the door, or slightly less if you purchase online). Kids 3 and under are free!
Where can I find parking?
Parking for the baseball game is available at the Senior Lot along Stage Street, and the Student Lot on Stadium Road. Town and County officials will be closing certain other areas near the high school for a safety zone, so if you are not attending the game, we encourage you to view the fireworks from any of the various parking lots along Lee Highway/North Main Street.
Will there be food available at the game?
Yes! Concessions are provided by the Marion Band Boosters, and all proceeds benefit the Band. Polar Express Shaved Ice will be on hand as well! Note – no outside food or drink is permitted inside the stadium.
Why are the fireworks on July 6th and not July 4th?
We tried our best, but they were already booked on the 4th! We’re looking forward to celebrating our nation’s founding all weekend long.
Thank you to the Marion Town Council and Smyth County Board of Supervisors for funding the fireworks display!
