Straddling the edge of KwaZulu-Natal and the Eastern Cape, the Ingeli Mountain Marathon promises an epic test of endurance and grit. This is no walk in the woods — runners will face technical forest single tracks, rugged mountain climbs, flowing jeep tracks, and open grassland paths that seem to stretch forever.
A past winner called it “grueling” — and that might be putting it lightly. Expect relentless climbs, leg-shaking descents, and terrain that demands every ounce of strength and focus.
But with the challenge comes incredible reward. The route is a tribute to the raw beauty of the region, winding through serene wetlands, bubbling streams, ancient forests, and ridgelines with jaw-dropping views.
Tackle one of the highest peaks in the Ingeli range and climb a total of 1,997m over 40km. This one’s for the mountain goats — strong legs and a fearless spirit are a must!
