One of KZNTR’s flagship ultra-distance events, the uMngeni River Run offers unbeatable value and raw trail running adventure. Hosted from the WESSA uMngeni Nature Reserve in Howick, the course links with the scenic Hilton College Estate to deliver 75km and 50km routes packed with classic KZN single-track and bushveld beauty. This race stays true to its no-frills, no-fuss philosophy—where it’s all about the trail.

It’s the perfect build-up for the Karkloof 100 or 50 Miler later in the year, with its night-running stretch and LSD (Long Slow Distance) group energy. Come for the camaraderie, stay for the challenge, and experience the pure essence of trail running in one of South Africa’s most spectacular river valleys.
