Former members Joe Johnson and Brian Galloway, with their new project Saint Dewey’s Good Time Revival, will celebrate the music and legacy of Manitou’s legendary band Creating a Newsense on its 20th anniversary!
Newsense began in late 2004 with the original four members playing a couple of house parties and shows. Joe joined the group in early 2005 and Brian joined in the summer of that year. The first weekend of August 2005 was the first time the 6 core members of the band played a show together, at the Ancient Mariner. Though the group played their last show in early 2020, the music still lives on through the fans who continue to listen. Finding a new home for that music was one of the driving motivations for Joe and Brian to start up Saint Dewey’s GTR.
The anniversary celebration started in December 2024 with the release of the live album “Pine Gables” and the studio album “A Place I Call Home” to streaming services for the first time ever. Efforts were made to get the whole group together to mark the anniversary with a show but logistics made it impossible. So this is the closest we can get and it’s gonna be a really special night!
If you are a fan of Creating a Newsense, or just a fan of good times and fun music, we implore you to join us August 1st to celebrate 20 years of the music that was the soundtrack for the 2000s Manitou scene and more importantly the fans who made it so! (That’s you….)
Saint Dewey’s Good Time Revival usually plays a couple of Newsense songs a show but for this one they will play a LOT of them, including some deep cuts never performed, as well as a heaping dose of new originals and fun covers.
It’ll be a proper Manitou party. See you there!!
