A Reimagining of Sophocles’ Philoctetes.
On a rubbish-strewn island at the edge of a forgotten war, the wounded soldier Philoctetes rots in a cave, abandoned by his army and left with only his mythic bow for company. When the cunning general Odysseus and the idealistic young recruit Neoptolemus arrive to drag him back into battle, their mission unravels into a brutal game of betrayal, trauma, and the cost of survival. Meanwhile, the island’s Chorus – a ragtag community of exiles, healers, and dreamers – watch with dark humour and weary wisdom. They’ve seen soldiers come and go, but Philoctetes’ rage might finally crack the sky open. Tempest’s blistering rewrite asks: What happens when the weapons we cling to become the chains that keep us trapped?
