Exhibit Summary
The ARTfactory is proud to present Scott Hillman: A Retrospective Journey Through Time, a new solo exhibition that offers an immersive look into more than three decades of work. Hillman's artwork has been showcased in galleries across Northern Virginia and has also been exhibited internationally in China.
Known for his bold use of color and segmented compositions, Hillman’s work blends early 20th-century influences with a distinctly contemporary voice. Working across mediums—including watercolor, pen and ink, oil, and acrylic—he constructs layered, dynamic pieces that invite viewers to explore the interplay between the familiar and the unconscious.
The exhibition also highlights his most recent series, which merges abstract elements with evocative, memory-charged imagery, designed to engage viewers in a dialogue about perception, time, and connection.
For Hillman, painting is a way to visualize the fragmented nature of life. Each shape, each color, is a piece of a larger narrative. Hillman’s goal is to show how even in fragmentation, there’s unity—just like our memories and experiences, each distinct but inseparable from the whole.
