Gray Areas Week 3

Romans 1:18 says that God shows His anger against all ungodliness. But what does “ungodliness” really mean? Many people think it refers only to evil actions or to people who do not believe in God. But the meaning goes deeper.

Christian author Jerry Bridges explains that ungodliness means “living one’s everyday life with little or no thought of God, or of God’s will, or of God’s glory, or dependence on God.” This means that people can live good, moral lives and still be ungodly, because God is not important in their daily lives.

Even if we read the Bible or pray for a few minutes each day, we can still live in an ungodly way. If we go through our day without thinking about God or depending on Him, we are living as if God does not exist.
