CODA is pleased to welcome back cellist Aaron Fried for our FREE Happy Hour event on Friday 6/20 at 5pm!
Aaron Fried is a versatile cellist based in Madison. Dedicated to pushing the limits of the cello, he has appeared locally with the genre-bending UW Bridge Ensemble, Mr. Chair, Nick Moran's "Una Historia de Afro Cuban Jazz," and for three years was the cellist with the Rabin Quartet. Currently Aaron is finishing is Doctor of Musical Arts degree at UW-Madison, where he is writing a jazz supplement to the Suzuki cello method. This fall will be leading a weekly improvisation class, through the Madison Cello Ensemble.
Todd Hammes
Highlights of Todd’s musical career including performing in a wide variety of settings from London England to Coffee Shops in Wisconsin. Study in India and a hut in the Sonoran Desert, and teaching at UW-Madison and in a cabin in Montana.
He lives in Madison with his wife and two barn cats and holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from UW-Madison.
Matt Blair is a pianist, composer, multimedia artist, and educator living in Madison, Wisconsin. His work draws upon diverse musical traditions such as jazz and improvisation, sound art, minimalism, and electronic music.
Since 2018, Matt has been releasing music on his label, Scribbled Fang Records. Recent releases have included Shadow Sets, a collection of compositions for solo piano that was produced by Dave King (The Bad Plus, Happy Apple), Post Rock Lately, the debut record of Collector, an improvising trio featuring Jakob Heinemann on bass and Devin Drobka on drums and electronics, and Flights and Poor Health Good Spirits, both releases by Big Thanks, a Minneapolis-based Trash House trio featuring Miles Allen on saxophone and clarinet and Jack Lussenden on drums.
