Dragonfly Walk

Owen Park is good habitat for dragonflies and this time of year can be seen in the prairies and at the ponds. The photo above was taken at Owen in the prairie in July 2023. Our volunteers monitor dragonflies by observing and photographing them and submitting the sighting to Wisconsin Odonata Survey ( https://wiatri.net/inventory/odonata/). Join us on a hunt for dragonflies throughout the park. Bring binoculars and a camera with telephoto lens if you would like to try photographing them. The dragonfly survey is a newer community science activity for us and we are excited about learning more about Owen's dragonfly residents. Beginners are welcome!
