Join Dane County Humane Society to Clear The Shelters and find loving homes for animals in our community!
On Saturday, August 23rd, from 10:00 am - 8:00 pm, we're teaming up with WMTV15 to host a Clear The Shelters pet adoption event. More details will be announced leading up to the big event!
Please note, adoptions at DCHS are first come, first served — and animals often find homes fast! If you’re interested in a specific animal, don’t wait — come adopt them as soon as you can!
We recommend that potential adopters check out the animals available for adoption on our website (www.giveshelter.org/adopt) prior to arriving at the shelter, and adopters should be prepared to take the animal home that day. Please remember to bring any leashes, collars, or carriers, that you plan on using. DCHS will have some available for purchase if needed.
Upon arrival, potential adopters will be added to a wait list, and adoptions will take place in a first-come-first-served basis. Adopters should have a couple animals in mind to meet with in case the pet they were interested in is adopted before it’s their turn.

The Adoption Center will be closed Sunday, August 24th, following the adoption event. The Wildlife Center, Thrift Stores, and appointment based services will still be open as normal.
