The Alzheimer’s Association invites residents of Macomb and surrounding areas to participate in the 2025 Walk to End Alzheimer’s® – Macomb, taking place on Saturday, September 13 at Chandler Park (148 E. Carroll St, Macomb, IL 61455). The event begins at 9:00 a.m.
“This is a pivotal moment in the fight against Alzheimer’s,” said Todd Lamison, Walk Manager for the Alzheimer’s Association Illinois Chapter. “We now have treatments that can change the course of this disease. That’s why we’re urging the Macomb community to form teams, walk with us, and help raise the awareness and funds needed to support families and advance new treatments.”
A highlight of the event is the Promise Garden ceremony, a moving tribute to all those impacted by Alzheimer’s. Walkers carry flowers in colors that symbolize their personal connection to the disease — whether they are living with it, caring for someone, honoring a lost loved one, or supporting the cause.
Why Your Support Matters
• More than 7 million Americans are currently living with Alzheimer’s — one of the nation’s leading causes of death.
• In Illinois, over 260,500 people live with the disease, supported by 314,000 caregivers.
• Funds raised through the Walk help provide local care services, public education programs, and critical research toward prevention, treatment, and a cure.
