Alzheimer’s Association Invites Macomb Community to Join the 2025 Walk to End Alzheimer’s® on Saturday, September 13
MACOMB, IL (Date) – The Alzheimer’s Association® invites Macomb residents to take part in the 2025 Walk to End Alzheimer’s – Macomb on Saturday, September 13 at Chandler Park (148 E. Carroll St., Macomb, IL 61455). Opening ceremony begins at 9:00 a.m.
“This is a pivotal moment in the fight against Alzheimer’s. We now have treatments that can change the course of the disease,” said Todd Lamison, Walk Manager for the Alzheimer’s Association Illinois Chapter. “We encourage everyone in the Macomb area to form a team, walk with us, and help raise awareness and funds to support families today and bring us closer to ending Alzheimer’s tomorrow.”
A signature element of the Walk is the Promise Garden ceremony, which honors all those impacted by Alzheimer’s. Participants carry flowers in different colors, each representing their personal connection to the disease — from living with Alzheimer’s to caring for someone affected or walking in memory of a loved one.
Why We Walk
Alzheimer’s is a growing public health crisis. Today, more than 7 million Americans are living with Alzheimer’s disease, and nearly 12 million provide unpaid care for loved ones living with Alzheimer’s or other dementias. In Illinois, over 260,500 people are living with the disease, supported by 314,000 caregivers.
