The Alzheimer’s Association is calling on residents of Manteno and surrounding communities to help lead the charge to end Alzheimer’s by joining the 2025 Walk to End Alzheimer’s® – Kankakee & Iroquois County, set for Saturday, September 13 at Square on Second (98-2 W 2nd St, Manteno, IL 60950). The event will begin at 8:30 a.m. with opening remarks, followed by the walk.
“This is a pivotal moment in the fight against Alzheimer’s,” said Kayli Rizzo, Walk Manager for the Alzheimer’s Association Illinois Chapter. “We now have treatments that can change the course of this disease. We’re encouraging everyone in the community to form a team, join us at the Walk, and help raise funds to support families and accelerate progress toward new treatments.”
A central feature of the event is the inspiring Promise Garden ceremony, which honors those impacted by Alzheimer’s. Participants carry brightly colored flowers, each representing their personal connection to the disease — from caregivers and people living with dementia to those honoring someone they’ve lost.
