On Saturday, September 20, the Al Sears Music Fest will present singer and multi-instrumentalist Allie Garland in two sets starting at 12:00 pm at the Western Illinois Museum. Known for seamlessly blending genres, Garland performs songs that span pop, country, rock, jazz, and soul.
A recent graduate of the WIU School of Music, she is featured in the Music Fest’s Local Stage, which highlights area musicians. Garland has performed on stages across Michigan, Tennessee, California, and Chicago, captivating audiences with her dynamic sound and energy. Now signed with MC1 Nashville/Sony, she has music available on all major platforms, with more releases on the horizon.
The Music Fest’s daytime performances begin at noon, with bar service and Sandra’s Authentic Mexican Food Truck available throughout the day. Visitors can enjoy additional live music as part of this day-long celebration of Al Sears, leading into Anthony’s headline performance in the evening.
The Al Sears Music Fest honors Macomb native Al Sears (1910–1990), a pioneering saxophonist, songwriter, and entrepreneur who performed with jazz legends like Duke Ellington and Lionel Hampton, and played a key role in shaping the sound of early rock and roll as a producer and executive with ABC Paramount.
Throughout the weekend, the Western Illinois Museum will feature photographs, recordings, and artifacts highlighting Sears’s remarkable career.
Bring your family, invite your friends, and celebrate Al Sears and Macomb’s unique place in American music history. This program is supported in part by a grant from the Performing Arts Society.
