Understanding Dementia Day

On Wednesday 3rd September at Hartwood House we are holding an “Understanding Dementia” Day.

For the day we have the Dementia Bus on site here and it will give people with a healthy brain the experience of what Dementia may be like. It allows delegates to enter the world of the person and understand which simple changes need to be made to their practice and environment to really improve the lives of people with Dementia. There will also be 2 talks from our Dementia Specialist Mark, one at 11am and one at 1pm, they are both the same talk so you don’t need to attend both.

It’s a free event for all of the relatives and the local community, we will need you to RSVP if you do want to attend as the bus has slots. Each slot is 15 minutes long and they can take 3 people in at a time. The bus will be running from 10am – 3pm and I (Charlotte) have the spreadsheet to book in the bus slots, so if you do speak to someone that isn’t me to book it in then please tell them to let me know.

We thought it would be a really good idea to reach out to the local community to join us as you may come across people with Dementia through work or just life in general, so it really helps us all to take a step into their world.

Hopefully this will really help us as a community to better understand each other.
