Opening Call for Artists, Musicians, and Spoken Word Poets

❤️AN OPEN CALL TO ARTISTS:🧑‍🎨

We invite you to be part of our first art show in over three years.
This show honors the life, faith, and transformation of Ron Gentry, a 72-year-old mixed media street artist who discovered the power of art only seven months ago—and whose work now centers around his journey through faith, illness, and recovery.

The theme of this show is “The Power of Change.”
Whether you are a painter, photographer, charcoal artist, or mixed media creator — if your work reflects transformation, growth, or resilience — we want to showcase it.

This is more than a gallery night. It is a celebration of:
• Personal evolution
• Recovery and healing
• Faith-based journeys (from any path)
• Artistic resilience in the face of hardship
• Stories of reconnection, community, and emotional clarity

HOW TO SUBMIT ARTWORK:

We offer two ways to participate:

1. Physical Wall Display:
• $5 donation to display one piece
• $20 donation for up to five pieces
• $50 donation for up to ten pieces, including:
• A scrolling video of you speaking about your art
• A QR code for guests to scan and purchase directly from your site
• Digital presentation featured on screen at the June 14 event AND in programs throughout the rest of the year (June–Dec 2025)

2. Digital Only:
• $5 minimum donation for a looping digital art submission (high-resolution image required)
• Optional short video or artist statement
• Displayed throughout the night on our indoor monitors and again at future events

100% of art sales go directly to the artist.
We only ask that you consider a donation to support our recovery and resource programs.

ABOUT RON GENTRY & THE CLARITY HOUSE

Ron is a 72-year-old artist living with cancer and other health struggles. He shares his personal transformation through mixed media and street art, inspired by faith, not fear. His belief in the power of change—fueled by art and spiritual connection—is the inspiration for this entire evening.

This show also honors the community that has grown inside and around The Clarity House. The stories of recovery, grief, resilience, and joy we’ve witnessed here in Lynchburg have shaped our nonprofit. Through art, food, water, and conversation, we strive to build clarity through compassion — a space where all feel seen and supported.

We support those facing food insecurity, water insecurity, trauma, addiction, isolation, and systemic gaps in care. Our work is centered around connection, and this art show is an expression of that mission.

SPOKEN WORD & MUSICIANS WELCOME

We are seeking:
• Spoken word artists (on the theme of change)
• Acoustic or mindful musical performers
• Performers must honor the tone of the evening (reflective, healing, and community-centered)

Please contact us via mhota.org to apply.

VENDORS, NONPROFITS & COMMUNITY ORGANIZATIONS

If you are a local nonprofit or organization that would like to table or share resources at the show, we welcome you.
Please email us with your table size and setup needs.
We kindly ask all partners to share the event using digital and/or physical flyers.

ALSO HAPPENING:
• Live painting and interactive art stations upstairs
• Onsite donation opportunities to support Leah’s Free Pantry, Bella’s Free Clothing Store, and FLOW water outreach
• Announcement of our June 26 Fashion Show & Fundraiser: “ALIVE”
• Interested fashion designers can contact: dG9yaSB8IG1ob3RhICEgb3Jn or bGF1cmEgfCBtaG90YSAhIG9yZw==

OUR NEW OUTDOOR SPACE: THE RACHEL BURNS REFLECTION GARDEN

We are currently working to transform our backyard into a Zen-inspired space for painting, reading, open jams, and mindful reflection.
We need volunteers for landscaping and setup over the next month — no experience needed, just a passion for creating calm, welcoming spaces for the community.

If you have easels or garden materials to donate, please let us know.

IN SUMMARY:

We’re calling on the artists, musicians, and creators of Lynchburg and beyond to help us celebrate The Power of Change.

This event honors Ron Gentry’s creative transformation and the journey of every person who has walked through our doors and taught us how to listen, how to grieve, how to grow, and how to give.

We may still be listed as the Madison House of the Arts, but we’re stepping into a deeper mission as The Clarity House — and we invite you to grow with us.

To submit artwork, perform, or table: visit mhota.org or message us directly on Facebook or Instagram @mhotaofficial
