We’re thrilled to welcome Emma Callow to lead this creative, dynamic, educational, and hands-on animation workshop, designed to ignite curiosity through a blend of art, technology, and cutting-edge fun!
Emma is a passionate educator and innovator with a love for STEAM and entrepreneurship. She designs, tests, and develops imaginative learning programmes using the latest tools, materials, and technology. With a strong belief in the power of playful exploration, she creates engaging educational experiences that inspire children to think critically, solve problems, and let their imaginations run wild.
During this workshop, families will have access to four hands-on stations with interactive activities exploring different animation techniques—from toy-based storytelling and expressive face animations to AI-generated characters and spinning image experiments. Children will be encouraged to build and bring their ideas to life in a playful and supportive environment.
Toy Storytelling
Children will design and construct their own sets and backgrounds, transforming favourite toys into the main characters of original stop-motion animations. This activity encourages imaginative thinking, narrative development, and creative problem-solving.
Arty Animation
Using everyday materials, children will animate expressive “Arty Faces,” bringing them to life with features that move—eyes that roll, mouths that smile or frown, and hair that sways. This activity blends art and animation, allowing for playful exploration of character and expression.
AI Animation
Participants will have the opportunity to design imaginative creatures or characters and use AI tools to animate them. This component introduces children to emerging technologies in a creative and age-appropriate way.
Spinning Animators
Children will explore the basics of motion and sequencing by creating spinning animations. Through drawing and testing their own designs, they’ll gain a better understanding of how still images can be transformed into moving pictures.
Suitable for ages 5-12 (Please note that 5-7 year olds must be supported by an adult).
