The Jazz Defenders are champions – or “defenders” – of the hard bop heritage of jazz. They echo the golden age of Blue Note records back in the 1950s and 60s featuring geats such as Horace Silverand Art Blakey. But they’re not mere nostalgists – their material is original and varied.
