Forgive us for being a little bit evangelical about this one, but artist and songwriter Ryan Davis is teetering on the edge of being huge. Catch him while you can at a venue as up close and personal as The Bear Club.
Ryan’s first album, 'Dancing on the Edge', was in many people’s view one of the best albums of 2023, and his second, 'New Threats From The Soul', has just been released to huge acclaim.
The songs are often long and cosmic country-tinged epics, leaning heavily into what MOJO called a “mooning slide guitar” with Ryan's Kentucky baritone drawl, but they also have a lilting, hook-heavy, indie-pop sensibility. It's the lyrics, though, that really grab you, revealing their wit and complexity over repeated listens, and marking Ryan as a remarkable talent.
We're really pleased that Ryan will be able to join us just a couple of days ahead of his performance at the End of The Road festival.
Support will be from Greene, the project of the excellent singer-songwriter Joe Anderton, which draws on acts such as Big Star, Tom Petty, and The Coral, while lyrically drawing comparisons to Loudon Wainwright Ill.
