Our History
In 2012 St John Fisher CC and St Albans CC got together to hold the first annual Phil Milton Memorial game to honour the great man's legacy through cricket, fun and social.
At the 2014 AGM David Hoskins came up with the idea of doing a fundraiser for the Hospice that cared for Phil and the plan to raise money for the peace hospice was born.
Since 2015 senior members of St John Fishers have been involved with 4 charity matches raising a total of £47,500 so far. We have supported The Peace Hospice, Cricket Without Boundaries, Children with Cancer UK and Crimebeat (Bedfordshire)
Our match in 2025 will be between a St John Fisher (Milton XI) and a Luton Town and Indians XI. The match will honour and remember 5 legends from the clubs, members who gave so much to both and asked for nothing in return. Phil Milton SJFCC and St Albans CC, Andrew Cox SFJCC, Pankaj Patel LTICC, Dipak Parsooth LTICC and Lakeram Bishun LTICC.
Due to the cause having direct links to both clubs and an unfortunate number of friends and family from both, we have decided to support CALM (Campaign for Living Miserably) who aim to prevent suicide and provide proactive support for all who are affected by it.
Phil Milton
In November 2011 St John Fisher and St Albans Cricket Clubs lost a man who had made an impact, to both clubs that was so great that it will never be repeated. Phil was the life and comic relief of Fishers and the driving force behind St Albans’ rebuilding and success in the 2000s. Without him both clubs would be a shadow of what they are now.
Phil made such a mammoth contribution to St Albans Cricket club that their new nets commissioned in 2012 are named after him.
He was a father, friend and mentor to colts and seniors alike and the reason why we started our fundraising.
Andrew Cox (Coxy)
On the 10th of February 2021 Fishers lost one of their own. Andrew was one of our most successful opening batsmen and a member of the club for close to 20 years. Beyond a textbook solid opener he was a friend and a true clubman. He was always happy to offer lifts or help with whatever was needed. His signature wry smile watching one of his batting partners slog across the line and getting bowled will be sorely missed.
Coxy played in the last Fishers game the Late Great Phil came to watch and played for the club long enough to have both played with him socialise with him.
Dipak Parsooth
The name itself speak his personality.
For over four decades, Dipak Paraooth had been a cornerstone of the local cricket community, embodying the spirit of the game both on and off the field. As a dedicated player, coach, and mentor, he had inspired countless young cricketers with his passion and commitment.
Dipak’s tireless efforts in organizing tournaments, coaching sessions, and community outreach programs had not only elevated the standards of play but also fostered a sense of camaraderie among players of all ages. His unwavering support for the club during challenging times had been solidified his reputation as a true leader.
Through his selfless service, Dipak had left an indelible mark on the cricket club, ensuring that the love for the game continues to thrive for generations to come. His legacy is one of dedication, perseverance, and an unyielding belief in the power of sport to unite communities.
Lakerum Bishun (Bish)
For decades, Lakeram Bishun had been the backbone of the Luton Town & Indians Cricket Club, serving as an umpire with unwavering commitment and integrity. His deep understanding of the game and fair judgment had earned him the respect of players and coaches alike. Known for his calm demeanor and sharp eye, Bishun has officiated countless matches, ensuring that the spirit of cricket is upheld on and off the field.
Beyond his role as an umpire, Bishun had been a mentor to young players, sharing his passion for the sport and imparting valuable lessons about life and teamwork. His contributions extend beyond the pitch; he was also remembered as a good singer who used to like his singing.
His legacy will undoubtedly continue to inspire future umpires and players at Luton town & Indians Cricket Club.
Pankaj (Paks) Patel
On the 12th January 2025, Luton Town & Indians Cricket Club were left shocked by the passing of Pankaj ‘Paks’ Patel.
On the pitch Paks was an exceptional batsman, and a remarkable wicket keeper, but most of all he was the teammate with the largest heart, and the biggest smile. His smile, his laughter, and his endless jokes on the pitch will sorely be missed.
Off the pitch, his heart was just as big, with a love for that game we call cricket, and a lifelong supporter and member of LTICC, who was always happy to get involved in friendly and charity cricket events held by the club.
Cricket may have been a part of Pak’s life, but he will forever be a part of LTICC.
