I årets sommarutställning visas tre konstnärer med kopplingar till Sverige: Tarik Kiswanson (f. 1986 i Halmstad, bosatt i Paris), Fatima Moallim (f. 1992 i Moskva, bosatt i Malmö) och Lisa Tan (f. 1973 i Syracuse, delstaten New York, bosatt i Stockholm).
Deras verk återspeglar variationen på den samtida konstscenen och artikulerar samtidigt deras personliga erfarenheter av plats och tid, för att fördjupa hur vi upplever alla de röster som utgör dagens samhälle.
Alla konstnärerna har ett starkt förhållande till skrivande och text, vilket understryks av utställningstiteln. 3 somrar är också titeln på en bok från 2016 av den kanadensiska essäisten och poeten Lisa Robertson som beskriver hur erfarenheter och minnen lagras genom generationerna.
De tre konstnärerna använder uttrycksformer som text, teckning, skulptur eller film för att visa hur vi ständigt är i rörelse mellan nutid, dåtid och framtid, och hur det vi upplever som något nära eller subjektivt också ingår i ett större kulturellt och geografiskt sammanhang.
3 somrar innehåller flera nyproducerade verk med anknytning till Lunds konsthall:
Kiswansons skulptur Foresight kombinerar två stolar från 1953, en av den berömde danske arkitekten och möbelformgivaren Finn Juhl och en, framställd för Brasiliens migrationsverk, av möbelfabriken Móveis Cimo.
Moallim har under installationsperioden använt konsthallen som sin ateljé och skapat teckningar som knyter an till arkitekturen och de andra konstnärernas berättelser.
Tan har återskapat verket National Geographic, ursprungligen bestående av projicerade diabilder, som en installation med 40 inramade bilder klippta ur hennes fars tidskriftssamling.

This year’s summer exhibition features three artists with connections to Sweden: Tarik Kiswanson (born in Halmstad in 1986, lives in Paris), Fatima Moallim (born in Moscow in 1992, lives in Malmö), and Lisa Tan (born in Syracuse, New York, in 1973, lives in Stockholm).
Their work reflects the variety of the contemporary art scene while articulating the artists’ own personal experiences of place and time, to deepen our experience of the multitude of voices that makes up today’s society.
They all have a strong relationship to writing and text, emphasised by the exhibition title. 3 summers is also the title of a 2016 book by Canadian essayist and poet Lisa Robertson, describing how experience and memory are layered throughout generations.
The three artists use formats such as text, drawing, sculpture or film to show how we are constantly moving between the present, the past and the future, and how what we experience as something close and subjective is also part of a larger cultural and geographical context.
3 summers contains several new commissions related to Lunds konsthall:
Kiswanson’s Foresight combines two chairs from 1953, one by the celebrated Danish architect and furniture designer Finn Juhl and one, produced for Brazil’s immigration authority, by the manufacturer Móveis Cimo.
Moallim has used the gallery as her studio during the installation period, creating drawings that reference the architecture and the other artists’ stories.
Tan has recreated her work National Geographic, originally a slide projection, as an installation of 40 framed images cut from her father’s collection of magazines.
