Do you enjoy making things yourself? Do you love plants? How would you like to take part in an event collaboration with Buried Alive Nursery and Pottery with artist and teacher Jami White!?
Well it’s happening! Spots are selling out fast so don’t wait! This is a perfect summertime workshop for ages 5 and up!
This 2-3 session class will be all about you creating something perfectly unique that you can enjoy for decades to come, complete with everything you need to stage the *plant of your choice in your handmade-by-you pottery. *(your choice of a $10 plant, or, a $10 credit towards a plant of your choosing; additional details will be outlined below) ***Please see the note below about online ticket sales for Texas state sales tax we are required to charge by law
June 21st 5:30pm~Night 1: This is it; this is the time to let your imagination run wild and let the clay become your unique creation! Jami will be giving us our clay and teaching us techniques for making pinch-pots, coil pots, and tips and tricks for creating other vessels for a plant or three to really come to life. And, since this is your creation; it doesn’t even have to be a pot! Let the clay take your hands where it wants to go. After your pieces have dried, Jami will take them to her kiln…
June 28th, 5:30pm~Night 2: This evening Jami will have your fired creations ready and waiting for you to once again let your imagination run wild! If you have chosen the 3 session option, this is the night you get to play with glazes! Jami will walk us through how different glazes react in the kiln and will have examples to show us. We will also talk about reasons you may or may not want to glaze the inside of your art piece; the reasons may surprise you! This is the evening Jami will take you on a journey of glazing options you as you get to combine color and texture and…prepare for the 3rd session!…
~ *If you have chosen the 2 session option, this will be your final evening where you get to pot up your plant(s) in the stoneware as-is, or you can paint it with art supplies we provide before potting up your plant(s) and you will be able to take your creation home with you tonight (unless you like to leave it for the weekend to dry)! YOU CAN ADD THE 3rd SESSION OPTION if you decide you’d like to glaze your pottery after you’ve seen it fresh from the kiln! It will simply be the additional $25+tax!
July 5, 5:30pm: Prepare yourself to see your glazed pottery creation come to life as Jami brings your glazed and fired pieces to Buried Alive Nursery this evening. Marvel in the drippy glazes and colors created in the heat of the kiln, feel the slick glaze and textured stoneware in your hands as we prepare a potting mix for your chosen plant(s) to live their best lives in a piece of art created by you! This is the final session and you will get to take your pieces home tonight!
