40+ Chef samples, 20+ beverage sample stations and industry workers band together once again to honor Anthony Bourdain, an American Celebrity Chef, Author, and Travel Documentarian who inspired service industry workers across the world hitting home in Louisville, KY. The 5th Annual A Taste for Life is helping those who suffer from depression, anxiety, and the challenging day-to-day dealings of working in the service industry.
“Mental health issues affect everyone. If that battle isn’t yours personally, it is for someone you know and love. This is especially true in the service industry where the long hours, constant quest for perfection in craft, and making sure guest experience is exceptional, all put immense pressure on staff. From chefs to dishwashers this pressure is felt and can lead to many mental health and substance abuse issues. Taste for Life is here to erase the stigma around those mental health struggles, start the conversation, and let people know that it’s okay to not be okay. We hope that with this important event we can not only get people talking about their struggles and seeking help but provide resources and ultimately save lives.” Chris Williams, Four Pegs and Founder of the Taste
The Party in the Park celebration will feature chefs’ samplings of signature dishes (unlimited sampling), beverage samples from beer, wine and spirits distilleries, silent auction, a cash bar, live music, and speakers from NAMI and The Pete Foundation who will be the beneficiaries of the event. “Don’t give in to stigma. A diagnosis does not determine who you are or what you can do!” NAMI
