Join us for a 6-week introduction to Yang-style Tai Chi, where you'll build strength through softness, and discover how movement guided by breath and intention can transform the way you feel — physically, mentally, and energetically.
In this series, you'll learn the beginning portion of the traditional Yang-style form, up to the First Cross Hands, with a focus on quality over quantity. We’ll explore how to:
• Move from your center with ease and clarity
• Root through the feet and rise through the spine
• Build internal structure without tension
• Release the shoulders and allow the breath to guide movement
• Feel grounded, centered, and more at home in your body
Each class will include gentle warm-ups, softening exercises, and detailed instruction in the form — taught in a way that’s accessible, embodied, and deeply nourishing, even if you’ve never done Tai Chi before.
Whether you're a seasoned mover looking to deepen body awareness, or someone brand new to mindful movement, this series offers a path to sustainable strength, calm focus, and whole-body connection.
No experience necessary. All levels and abilities welcome.
Candace teaches Authentic Yang Style Tai Chi with an emphasis on structure, breath, and the natural movement of energy through the body. She has been a dedicated student of the art for over 35 years, learning from her father—a lifelong practitioner and teacher—and carrying forward the lineage with care and respect. For 20 years, she ran her own Tai Chi school in Rhode Island, where she guided students of all ages and abilities.
In her classes, Candace creates a warm and grounded space for students to slow down, build strength from the inside out, and connect more deeply to themselves through mindful movement. Her approach honors the tradition of Tai Chi while making it approachable for beginners who are curious about balance, resilience, and moving through life with more ease.
