Diwali—also known as Deepavali—is one of the most cherished festivals in Hinduism, symbolizing the victory of light over darkness and good over evil. Tradition holds that on this auspicious night, Lord Rama returned to Ayodhya after defeating Ravana, and his people illuminated the kingdom with rows of lamps (diyas) to welcome him home. In many regions, Diwali also honors Goddess Lakshmi, the deity of prosperity and abundance, and Lord Ganesha, the remover of obstacles.
During Diwali, homes are decorated with rangoli (colorful floor designs), lamps, and fairy lights. Families gather to perform Lakshmi Puja, exchange gifts and sweets, and share laughter as fireworks paint the sky. Beyond the rituals, Diwali is a time for reflection—renewing our commitment to compassion, generosity, and harmony.
