About the event

DR. HEAD FAKE or How I Learned to Stop Worrying about Rodman & North Korea
“DR. HEAD FAKE or How I Learned to Stop Worrying About Rodman & North Korea” is madman Josh Berkowitz’s virtuosic take on false victory.

About this Event

“DR. HEAD FAKE or How I Learned to Stop Worrying About Rodman & North Korea” is performance artist Josh Berkowitz’s continuation of his sports series where stream-of-consciousness poetry, contemporary dance, clown and psychodrama all merge. This one-man show calls forth first-time experiences of all kinds, featuring childhood liars and temporary victors. In the world of this performance piece, microcosmic infancy correlates to macrocosmic basketball history. Ultimately, the question of false memory and unreliable narration is Berkowitz’s favorite kind of autobiography, a love of rhythmic dissonance, that is equal parts precise, strategic, anarchistic and ridiculous.

This performance is part of the Daredevil Arts Festival - a multi-day performing arts program showcasing bold voices and multi-disciplinary storytelling. Hosted by Electric Lodge, audiences have the opportunity to choose from over twenty-five unique performances between July 12-13, with an opening night party on July 11. In between shows, guests can relax, grab a bite to eat, and listen to live music in the outdoor entertainment area.

The Daredevil Arts Festival is the latest embodiment of Electric Lodge’s mission to serve the Venice community with vibrant, innovative performing arts and culture. Founded in 1997 by Dr. Joel Shapiro, Electric Lodge is one of the first solar-powered performing arts centers in California with a 99-seat blackbox theater, dance studio, and classroom space.

Tickets for the Daredevil Arts Festival are $15 per show, or $99 for an All-Access Pass. You can learn more at daredevilarts.org/shows
