This concert is dedicated to perpetuating Hawaiian culture and honoring the legacy of Kumu Hula Randy Kaulana Chang. This two hour performance will showcase 40 years of his teaching career through hula and song carried down by his son, Joshua Kamuela Chang.
Boulder based Hula school Keaka O Kalani and their Fort Collins based sister school Noco Hula will be the haumana (students) performing both the kahiko (ancient) and auana (modern) style hula.
The Hawaiian culture, ʻaina (land) and Kānaka Maoli (the indigenous peoples of the Hawaiian Islands) have faced significant systemic oppression and displacement for centuries, and continue to this day. It is our honor and privilege to uplift the lāhui (Hawaiian nation/community) and to perpetuate all that Kānaka have been fighting for.
