Vinyl Sisters with the Outerglobe Femxle DJ Relay has the best vinyl Reggae out there played by a mix of tip top and upcoming womxn DJs. And En Root Indian vegan street foot on sale til 9pm
Hosts on rotation are MISS FEELGOOD, KAYA M and DEBBIE GOLT - classics, roots and rarities with ska galore and more - rewind central! We invite 3-4 guests to join the night.
THIS MONTH WE HAVE AN ESPECIALLY STRONG LINE UP - AND YOU ARE ENCOURAGED TO COME EARLY (and stay right through of course too!) Come and enjoy brilliant sets from PRINCESS NADENE - Dennis Brown's daughter playing rare and favourite records from her father's deep legacy joining us again; PRINCESS LAURA - our very own Laura Dance with her light touch and tuuunes you may not hear elsewhere, Reggae with great Soul and R'n'B too; NFinnerty bringing her fresh vibes and classics - Roots to shoots and she'll almost certainly singjay too! And completing the guest line up in very fine style is Empress Khalilah who made such a fabulous debut recently with her deep selection and crowd animation.
This month's event has an extra special touch with a celebration - all the more reason to make sure to reach. NFinnerty - DubTastic Music - is celebrating 17 years of DubTastic Music with us. Like Vinyl Sisters, DubTastic Music has always been deep rooted in Brixton. Expect roots, dub, old and new selections with a sprinkle of live vocals. We will do a toast - be sure to fill your glasses!
If you are a womxn with a great Reggae vinyl collection and would like to play in the Relay, please do get in touch via vinylsistersuk (@) gmail .com It doesn't matter if you have never played in public before, we are here to guide you every step of the way! And you can come early to have a quick go too. It's not walk up - do be aware. You might also be someone who plays out often and would like to try something new with a truly supportive crowd. We also welcome femxle mcs - looking to encourage more!
We love hearing how playing at our event makes a difference - already some people who were new to the decks played at a top flight open decks night straight away!
