Up, Up and Infrared: Chasing Stars with Balloon Telescopes

Join us for the next public night at Cronyn Observatory on Saturday, June 21st, 2025, from 8:30 to 11:00 pm! Take a tour of the observatory, gaze through our telescopes (weather permitting), and satisfy your curiosity about the cosmos with our team of astronomers on hand to answer all your burning questions.

To kick off the evening, join us for a special presentation starting at 8:30 pm. This Saturday, we're excited to host Stan Metchev, Professor of Astronomy, who will delve into "Up, Up and Infrared: Chasing the stars with Balloon telescopes". Learn about the innovative technology behind balloon telescopes, which offer high-resolution views from the edge of Earth's atmosphere at a fraction of the cost of space telescopes. Stan will also share insights into upcoming missions utilizing these telescopes.
Admission is free, and no registration is required. The event is open to everyone!
