Join us for the next Nuff Sed session, a bold community knowledge exchange series by Sedulous CIC exploring the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly of Participatory Research. This time, we’re diving into the tensions between meaningful participation and performative inclusion. As participatory research becomes more mainstream, so do the risks of it being reduced to tick-box exercises and symbolic gestures.
Who really holds power in spaces that claim to be community-led? What does it take to move from involvement to genuine collaboration? With speakers from grassroots organising, academia and funding, we’ll explore this issue from all sides—unpacking how participation can empower or exclude depending on how it’s resourced, structured and valued.
Through lightning talks and a dynamic and interactive panel discussion, we’ll spotlight the realities behind the rhetoric and open the floor to honest, cross-sector conversation. Whether you're a local resident, grassroots organisation, academic, funder or policymaker, this is a space to reflect, connect and challenge the status quo.
Let’s break the performative cycle and reimagine participatory research as a tool for justice, equity and transformation!
