THIS IS US is proud to present ‘THIS IS HOW’ : an interactive conversation on building consciously.Moderated by co-founders Osione + Oroma Itegboje, we are bringing together brilliant minds from our community : Wale Davies , Seetal Solanki and Jade Adeyemi for an honest conversation about their creative journeys.Join us as we delve into process and everything in between, including messy beginnings and amazing breakthroughs.Hosted by lanaire aderemi.Filming and Photography will take place.

// About Our Speakers

Osione Itegboje is a multidisciplinary artist, designer, and curator whose work bridges cultural strategy, policy development, and creative practice across global institutions, governments, and brands. As co-founder of THIS IS US NG, he champions heritage crafts and homegrown design, while supporting landmark projects like “Arts in transit” in Saudi Arabia. A graduate of Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs, Osione’s creative vision has been recognized by institutions such as Monocle, Vogue Business, and the Arts Council of England.


Oroma Itegboje is the Creative Director of THIS IS US and a fashion entrepreneur whose expertise spans across design, creativity and business management. With a legal background, extensive field research into materials and craft, and a wealth of experience working with both international and African luxury brands, she brings a unique perspective to creating culturally resonant products and building innovative and sustainable enterprises for the future.


Wale Davies, professionally known as Tec, is a Nigerian creative entrepreneur and cultural leader. He is one half of the acclaimed rap duo Show Dem Camp (SDC), known for pioneering the "Palmwine Music" sound that blends hip-hop with African rhythms. Beyond music, Wale serves as the Head of A&R for Africa at Sony Music Publishing, where he plays a key role in discovering and nurturing African talent. He also co-manages Grammy-winning artist Tems, contributing to her global success. As founder of Fatherland, a media and production company, Tec has expanded his creative reach into film and storytelling. He wrote My Fathers Shadow, the first Nigerian feature film selected for the Cannes Film Festival—a groundbreaking moment for Nigerian cinema. He also co-produced the award-winning short film Lizard. Through platforms like the Palmwine Music Festival, Wale continues to shape and elevate Africa’s creative industries on a global stage.


Seetal Solanki is a Materials Translator who resides in London and is of Indian, East African and Persian descent. She is the Founder and Director of Ma-tt-er, a practice focused on providing access to materials through researching, learning, advising and curating. Since 2004, she has worked with global fashion houses, brands, and institutions including Lee Alexander McQueen, Hussein Chalayan, Nike Air Jordan, and Potato Head Bali where materials were applied into live projects with cultural integrity and technological advancements. In 2018, she authored the internationally acclaimed Why Materials Matter: Responsible Design For A Better World. Her passion for knowledge-sharing has led her to teach at Central Saint Martins, Royal College of Art, and beyond. She co-designed Plan-b, a plastic recycling workshop in Lagos with the local community of Lagos Island. Currently, she is writing a second book, Material Atlas, exploring the migration of materials across lands, through people, place and process. She is striving to build more regenerative systems with a materials first approach to support us in the journey to discover what we’re made of.


Jade Adeyemi is a Nigerian-British Art Director whose work spans across set-spatial design, events & exhibition. Jade runs a multidisciplinary studio which operates at the intersection of art, design, architecture, and film. Known for designing the British Fashion Council (BFC) trophy, Jade’s work moves fluidly across industries and scales, from intimate installations to expansive spatial experiences.At the heart of every project is a deep commitment to people and stories through creating spaces and narratives that resonate, communicate, and invite dialogue.With a strong foundation in world building and visual storytelling, Jade’s work transforms imaginative concepts into tangible realities, infusing each project with colour, texture and narrative depth. The studio draws on diverse cultural influences and mediums to create environments that are as thought provoking as they are immersive.


lanaire aderemi is the founder of lap, a creative agency and production company that develops unforgettable stories for brands and artists. lanaire holds a PhD in Creative Writing, an MA in Theatre & Performance, and a BA in Sociology from the University of Warwick, graduating with distinctions across all three degrees. Her award-winning creative practice spans theatre, film, and audio, including ‘record found here’, a short film shortlisted for the Baobab Award at Film Africa, and ‘story story pod’, an immersive audio-drama shortlisted for the Audible x Content is Queen Prize.Her work has been recognised with the Shoot Festival Award and the Peter Gutkind Prize, and shortlisted for the Mustapha Matura Award. In 2023, she was selected for both the Soho Theatre Writers Lab and Hampstead Theatre’s INSPIRE Programme. She has collaborated with organisations such as Tate and the BBC, and her writing has appeared in Elle, Lolwe, and The Republic Journal.
