About the event

The Line Walk & workshop
Exploring architecture, public space and sculptures with Gusty Ferro

About this Event

Come along for a guided walk along part of The Line’s public art trail at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park with Gusty Ferro, followed by a hands-on and collaborative workshop that explores the relationship between urban infrastructure, public space, and the body.

Come along for a guided walk along part of The Line’s public art trail at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park with Gusty Ferro, the East London Art Prize shortlisted artist who will be sharing their practice that explores the relationship between urban infrastructure, public space, and the body.

The walk will be followed by a hands-on collaborative workshop where you will collectively create a fictional square, sketching and transforming objects, taking inspiration from the surroundings and artworks along The Line & Gusty’s sculptural works that presents a brutalist sensitivity to texture and material.

This is an interactive workshop with plenty of time for discussion. All materials provided.

Route information

The initial meeting point for the walk will be at Bromley-by-Bow Station. We will make our way down along the River Lea to Bow Locks where we will see Eva Rothschild’s Living Spring, (2011) and then continue along The Line to The House Mill where Virginia Overton’s ‘Untitled (Juniper)‘; (2014) is located. After visiting the works there, we will then walk back to our Bow Arts Office, 183 Bow Road, London, E3 2SJ for the workshop.

The guided tour will last roughly from 11am-12pm, followed by a two-hour long workshop in our outdoor courtyard (we have sheltered areas if the weather isn’t on our side!) at our main offices at Bow Arts Trust, 183 Bow Road, London, E3 2SJ. There will be breaks for you to grab food and snacks during the workshop.

Please note, there will be photography taken at this event for Bow Arts & The Line’s internal reporting and for sharing in print and on social media.

This event is co-curated by Wan Yi Sandra Lam, Curator: Programmes & Engagement at Bow Arts and Lorna Powell, Engagement Producer (Public Programme) at The Line.

Free Tickets must be booked to guarantee your place!
