Each session will focus on a different signature dish:
🫑 Session 1 – August 21: Bhorta A deep dive into the art of smoky, mashed vegetables and proteins, a cornerstone of Bangladeshi comfort food.
🍬 Session 2 – August 28: Pitha Make sweet and savoury handmade rice cakes from scratch, delicate, festive, and full of cultural history.
🥘 Session 3 – September 4: Roti & Masala Curry Flaky, layered flatbreads paired with rich, slow-cooked masala, cooked the traditional way.
OITIJ-JO Kitchen is a woman-led social enterprise based in Tower Hamlets. We focus on traditional, handmade Bangladeshi food while disrupting gender norms in hospitality by training and employing those underrepresented in kitchens and front-of-house roles.
We're part of the OITIJ-JO Collective, a charity dedicated to promoting Bengali culture through arts, food, and community action.
This series is for anyone curious about Bengali food and culture, no prior experience needed. Whether you're a beginner, a seasoned home cook, or just love trying new things, you're welcome here.
