Margot is not your average vicar. But then again — who is?
Sit or Kneel is a sharply observed, darkly funny coming-of-age story about identity, expectation, and finding your place in a world that wasn’t built for you. Margot is in her twenties, accidentally ordained, and leading a parish she doesn’t quite understand, while quietly unravelling behind the scenes.
Set in a village full of unsolicited advice and passive-aggressive casserole drops, Sit or Kneel is an ode to rural British life: its charm, its eccentricities, and the quiet pressure to appear perfectly fine at all times. It’s a play that digs into gender, grief, ambition and the bizarre theatre of everyday life — all with wit, warmth, and emotional bite.
Described as “the perfect amalgamation of Fleabag and The Vicar of Dibley”, this is the breakout debut from Mimi Nation-Dixon. After a sold-out, critically acclaimed Fringe run, it’s back — bigger, bolder, and better than ever.
📍 Venue Description: Other Palace Studio is the intimate 120‑seat studio space within The Other Palace complex, dedicated to new musical theatre, new writing, cabaret, comedy, music and work in progress performances. Its flexible L‑shaped layout, often with unreserved seating or light tables, offers a close-up, informal setting. It’s part of a lively tier of programming that complements the main 312‑seat auditorium of The Other Palace while offering a more experimental, audience‑engaged environment.
### **The history of Other Palace Studio**
The Studio opened in February 2017 as the second performance space of what had been the St. James Theatre and was relaunched as The Other Palace earlier that year under Andrew Lloyd Webber’s ownership. With 120 seats, it was introduced to nurture new musicals and platform early‑stage performances in a cosier environment. Since its acquisition by Bill Kenwright Ltd in October 2021, the venue has maintained its mission of supporting emerging talent and work‑in‑development productions.

Staff can support visually impaired visitors, though the Studio does not currently offer an infrared hearing loop system (available only in the Main House).
