Who is this course aimed at?
This course is ideal for nurses who are looking to improve their understanding of weight bias, how it affects treatment of patients, what causes obesity and weight management methods. Attendees will learn how to identify post-op complications and raising awareness about how to manage them.
This course is suitable for all nurses (including nurse associates), health care assistance and nursing students.
Join us for an informative King’s Bariatric Study Day aimed at expanding your knowledge of the different types of bariatric surgeries and the intricacies of inpatient care.
This event will cover the dietary requirements of bariatric patients and the collaborative care approach necessary for their treatment.
Participants will receive a comprehensive overview of current surgical interventions for obesity, including discussions on the long-term outcomes and potential complications associated with these procedures, as well as their management.
Additionally, the training will offer valuable guidance on the perioperative and nutritional care specific to bariatric surgical patients.

Info: Aim: To raise awareness regarding the prevalence of mental health problems in people living with obesity and explain the role of psychological treatments in pre- and post-operative management. Learning Outcomes: To understand how the rewarding food stimuli is affecting obesity and treatment of it. To understand the most important aspects of psychological assessment and pre-operative optimisation prior to bariatric surgery.
