This event is aimed at beginning your Textured hair journey with confidence by working with real individuals and their unique lived experiences, traditions and cultures who wear their natural tight curls.

Working with Innersense Organic Beauty products, this Tight Curl Texture Education equips you with the foundational knowledge and understanding to begin to work with textured hair confidently and adeptly, in a culturally competent manner. Hosted by Erica Liburd. Ericas hairdressing career began 1995 at the age of 17, she then went on to qualify as a hairdressing assessor and educator in 2007 and became a salon owner 2014. Erica’s hairdressing career has developed into a successful multifaceted business with a multi cultural salon.

A core element of Erica's business is the “Texture Unravelled” Campaign and Education.

Texture Unravelled is a campaign to revolutionise and rejuvenate the hairdressing industry. Dedicated to championing inclusive hair education across all cultures and ethnicities with a distinct focus on textured hair through dynamic research and education, in person and online discussions, hands-on-training, and collaborative peer sessions.

Learn within an immersive and interactive hands-on training environment starting with the essential 4C’s.

Conversation

Talking honestly and openly about why hairstylists may be afraid and apprehensive to work with textured hair and may find it challenging. This conversation is an opportunity to be open and truly honest about your relationship with textured hair.

Confidence

Hairstylists will grow in confidence as they develop the fouindational skills to overcome challenges in the industry and within their communities socially and economically. It will allow you to move confidently within communities unlike your own.

Comfortable

Looking at the History of Textured hair, we explore how and why it has been politicised and judged and discuss the ways in which Hairstylists can contribute to societal change within their close networks and wider communities.

Competence

Combining theoretical and practical approaches, Hairstylists begin their ongoing personal journey working with Textured hair to develop a conscious Cultural Competency of knowledge and skill within the hairdressing community.
