Harvest Moon EP: Launch & Listening Party

“Harvest Moon” is the new 4-track EP by Singer-Songwriter Sora X, that blends live-recorded instruments (Oud, Strings, Keys, Drums and more) and vocals into a new cinematic sound.

This EP is inspired by the myth of Demeter, the Greek goddess of the harvest. The retelling serves as a metaphor to explore recurrent female experiences in a patriarchal world.

When Hades, the god of the underworld, kidnaps Demeter's daughter, Persephone, and forces her to become his wife, Demeter falls into great despair. As a result, the world, which had been like paradise before, is frozen in eternal winter. The land becomes barren, crops fail, fruit vanish, and nature refuses to flourish.

The four songs of this EP translate into the four Seasons.

The first two, “Ploughed Land” & “The Sun Shines In” are written from Demeter’s perspective, and the last two, “Harvest Moon” & “Poseidon's Storm” are written from Persephone’s perspective.
