DIY analog video mixer workshop, by V.K.N.I.F.E.

WORKSHOP DESCRIPTIONIn this hands-on workshop, you'll learn how to build your own DIY Dirty Video Mixer, an analog device for mixing video in real time. During the session, you'll not only assemble your own mixer, but also explore its creative possibilities using live footage.WORKSHOP LENGTH: 3 hours

Deadline: July 24th to reserve your spot.

FEES: £35. Payments cover the internal materials for the Dirty Mixer (electronic components).

IMPORTANT:Each participant must bring a box or hollow object to serve as the base of their Dirty Mixer. (It can be any plastic or metal box with a hollow interior to fit all the electronic components.) GET CREATIVE! THERE'S A WORLD OF POSSIBILITIES.

WORKSHOP CONTENTS AND METHODOLOGY:Introduction:- Presentation of an assembled Dirty Mixer to view the images obtained and understand how it works.- Explanation of the device's video inputs and outputs, components, and connections.Soldering Technique:- Basic soldering instruction.- Practice of the technique to ensure solid and secure connections.Dirty Video Mixer Assembly:- Step-by-step guidance for assembling the mixer.- Personalized assistance to answer questions and ensure proper assembly.Testing and Exploration:- Each participant will test their mixer using live images.- Installation with analog security cameras, televisions, and other video input devices to experiment and explore the mixer's capabilities.WORKSHOP LEADER:V.K.N.I.F.E (Visual Knife)Costume designer and visual artist based in Bogotá. Her work is characterized by a deep exploration of visual aesthetics that emerge from analog tools of video synthesis and manipulation. Visual Knife fuses elements of experimental cinema, her own videos, and historical or archival footage, creating a unique and evocative visual language. She uses a myriad of homemade and analog video mixers to generate distortion effects through synthesizers, achieving a striking combination of the ancient and the contemporary.
