Cyanotype printing and Embroidery at Stanstead Lodge

You are invited to this special collaborative workshop joining cyanotype printing with embroidery.

Join me, Daniela Sbrisny of Blueschein Printshed, and the talented crafter Chris Solly for a very special joint workshop at the lovely Stanstead Lodge in Catford on August 14th, 2025 (10am-2.30pm). This full-day creative immersion is designed to give you a truly multi-faceted artistic experience! We'll start our morning with a 2-hour cyanotype printing session (10am-12pm). You'll discover the magic of this historic photographic process, harnessing the power of the sun to create beautiful Prussian blue prints on paper and fabric. Think leaves, flowers, and other interesting objects transformed into stunning, unique artworks. After a refreshing lunch break, we'll dive into the afternoon with a 2-hour embroidery session (12.30-2.30pm), taking your newly created cyanotypes to the next level!

This afternoon session is all about enhancing your morning's work. We'll be using the cyanotype designs you created in the morning to embroider on, adding texture, detail, and vibrant colour to your unique prints. Chris Solly, a qualified teacher with many years of experience, will guide you through a variety of embroidery stitches, from simple to more intricate, ensuring you learn new skills no matter your experience level. Threads of a variety of colours and needles will be supplied, so all you need to bring is your enthusiasm! This is a fantastic opportunity to combine two beautiful art forms, learn from two experienced instructors, and leave with a truly one-of-a-kind piece that reflects your personal touch.
