Cabrolé! Workshop: Flamenco & Clowning

As part of the Cabrolé project, we are bringing you a flamenco and clowning workshop with the incredible artist Paulina Lenoir! Paulina Lenoir is a designer turned award-winning clown, founder of the cult cabaret night Fool’s Moon, and creator of the acclaimed show Puella Eterna. In this workshop, we will explore the crossover between flamenco and clowning through the search for our duende, a mystical goblin said to inhabit the body in moments of heightened artistic expression. You will not be learning traditional flamenco. Instead, you’ll be invited to dip your toes into a clown-infused, flamenco-inspired pool of playful experimentation.

This workshop is for all levels - No need for experience, only the will to learn something new. Through a series of movement-based exercises, we will investigate what it means to be truly present on stage and how to respond to the spontaneity of the moment. By the end, participants will create short pieces designed to channel their own unique, enigmatic, duende-infused stage presence.

Eric Longa is a UK based multidisciplinary performance company with origins in movement, dedicated to exploring identity and fostering artistic and social dialogue through Spanish cultural heritage, professional development, and community engagement. Eric Longa was founded by Spanish artist Patricia Langa, and it also encompasses all her work as a performer, choreographer, and movement director.
