A Spotlight On... Fortnum's Open Call Winner Curry Smugglers

Since 1707, Fortnum & Mason has championed the exceptional work and time-honoured making methods of talented artisans around the world.Earlier this year, we added a new chapter to that storied history, by launching a search for the UK & Ireland’s very best new and undiscovered food and drink producers.

And now, after an impossibly competitive and very delicious judging process, we’re delighted to introduce the winners of our first Open Call – each of which will soon be found on the shelves at Fortnum's.

About Curry Smugglers:

We are proud to work with one of our Fortnum & Makers, Curry Smugglers. Curry Smugglers is a proudly independent snack brand based in Margate, Kent. Founded by husband-and-wife team Steve and Ruby, first-generation British Asians, the brand was born because we could see South Asian snacks stuck in a rut—boring bags stacked on supermarket shelves and of course for our love of bold Indian flavours and a passion for quality snacking . Their snacks are handmade in small batches in Kent, using locally sourced, plant-based ingredients, and are uniquely packaged in plastic-free craft beer cans to maintain freshness and add a contemporary flair.

About this session:

In this session, we’ll be hosting a desi snack market showcasing Curry Smugglers flavours from: Bombay mix, paroka and chakli. We will be joined by the co-founders of Curry Smugglers, Steve and Ruby where they will be sharing their origin story — how they started, family recipes, why the can, and what makes Desi snacks special. You will be able to taste their delicious snacks as well as listening to some tunes handpicked by Steve and Ruby. This is the perfect opportunity to taste and learn from the pro.

This session will last two hours, in which you will able to join at any time during 12:00 - 13:30. This ticket will include three cans of Curry Smugglers.
