Have you always dreamed of dancing Brazilian Samba like in Rio Carnival, but felt too nervous to try a class? If so, this Brazilian Samba Dance Course is for you!

Led by Liani Devito – Brazilian, Passista (professional samba dancer) of Acadêmicos do Salgueiro (one of Rio de Janeiro’s most iconic samba schools), with over a decade of teaching authentic samba in the UK – this 6-week beginner-friendly course at Pineapple Dance Studios will immerse you in the vibrant art of samba in a supportive and uplifting atmosphere.

Each session begins with a warm-up, then moves into samba technique, posture, and steps. You’ll build short routines week by week to improve coordination, rhythm, and confidence. We’ll also focus on performance and expression – everything you need to feel the joy, strength, and energy of samba.

No previous dance experience needed – just bring your energy and an open mind!
(Open to all genders).

YOU’LL LEARN

• Fundamentals of samba no pé (the solo Rio Carnaval step)
• Posture, hips, and footwork technique
• Musicality, rhythm, and connecting with the samba drumbeats
• Short choreographies to develop retention and confidence
• Performance, expression, and true Brazilian samba attitude
• A touch of Brazilian Portuguese and cultural expressions
• Insights into Samba’s history and cultural significance

WHAT TO BRING

• Footwear: Comfortable shoes you can move in (or even socks to start with)
• Clothing: Something that makes you feel confident and free – fitted leggings/shorts and a top work great
• Water: Stay hydrated! Refills are available in the building

SCHEDULE

This Introductory Samba course is 6 weeks long, with 1 class per week on Fridays (6 classes all together). Each class is 60 minutes long and held by Liani Devito at Pineapple Dance Studios.

Course start date: 17th October 2025

Timings: Fridays 7.35 - 8.35pm (60 minutes)

1st Class: Friday 17th October

2nd Class: Friday 24th October

3rd Class: Friday 31st October

4th Class: Friday 7th November

5th Class: Friday 14th November

6th Class: Friday 21st November

All courses are non-refundable* and have to be booked before their start date. The course price is inclusive of our membership fee.
