The Lonnavale forests hold some of the largest trees in the world. The now famous 'Grove of Giants' was protected through people power in recent years, yet logging is still planned throughout Lonnavale, which is also important breeding habitat for critically endangered swift parrot. Swiftys are returning to Lonnavale to breed right now, and have been recorded at areas scheduled to be logged this summer.
Join us on Saturday 13 December for a day the Lonnavale Forests as we make the case for their permanent protection. As always, the day will include guided forest walks through an imminently threatened rainforest, music, ecology activities, and a panel discussion to finish. BYO packed lunch, water, and suitable shoes/clothing/equipment.
Limited free transport will be available from 130 Davey Street, Nipaluna/Hobart - please email
